Reproduction Giclee Print 22 x 28 inches on Archival Photo Paper Millard Owen Sheets (1907-1989) This print was from the United Airline 1967 Calendar. A California Artist, Mr. Sheets was a respected and widely collected painter, architect, and mosaic designer. He also was one of 15 artists chosen nationally to paint murals in the Department of the Interior in Washington, D.C. During World War II he traveled to India and Burma as a war artist for Life magazine. From the late 1930's until 1955 he headed the art departments at Scripps College and Claremont Graduate School. In 1953 he became director of Otis Art Institute. His paintings are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum in New York, the Chicago Art Institute, the National Gallery in Washington D.C.; the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco; the Los Angeles County Museum, and the Smithsonian Institute. He was a talented and prodigious painter whose life was as colorful as his art.
